“Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves.”
– Hellen Keller
We have it within ourselves to be fully satisfied and live a life with true meaning and purpose. Happiness comes from within each and every one of us. Happiness comes from how we choose to view our life and the thoughts we allow to enter our mind. You may not be able to change the circumstances of life but you can change how you choose to view those circumstances. Happiness comes from gratitude. Be grateful for anything and everything you can think to be thankful for, for there is always something. Be thankful for that which you already have, however vast or little it may seem, it is your treasure. Focus on those things. Be thankful for your eyes to see the colors of the world, your hands to touch another, your legs to walk among this earth and run and jump with joy. Be thankful you have your life, this moment and today to experience all the world has to offer for tomorrow is not a guarantee. Don’t seek or expect happiness to come from the outside for it will leave you eternally disappointed and unsatisfied. The “happiness” you may find in tangible or non-tangible things outside of yourself have a short shelf life, they are momentary and temporary but they do not lead to a fundamentally happy soul. Choose happiness and let it radiate from within you and cascade onto the world and others for it can be inspiring to those who soak up the rays of your happiness. Let your conscience guide you to your true happiness. All you need to do is listen closely and follow the path it has set forth for you.
“Joy is not in things; it is in us.”
