Racism is the most idiotic form of hatred there is, differences not only in skin color are what make our world interesting. If I only wanted to associate with people exactly like me, I’d be all alone.
One race : Human.
To hear from people all over the world and their views on a vast range of topics, check out this website and specifically the films section.
After I posted this I got a comment from a fellow blogger Rajni and her blog Kurilane (who I find inspirational and brilliant) and she said the following in response to this post:
…this makes me think of food – could you imagine if we ate the same color, texture, flavor, taste, look, fragrance all the time?…
Her response really got me thinking and this is where it lead me:
I find the comparison Rajni made fascinating. The comparison between only wanting to associate with people exactly like you and only wanting to eat the same kinds of food on a daily basis. Putting the same food into your body all the time not only wouldn’t be satisfying emotionally but physically your body needs diversity to work properly and function at a high level. We need a variety of vitamins and nutrients that are found in a variety of different foods. The mind needs the same kind of mix. The mind needs a variety of “foods” and “flavors”. Having this in your life to inspire you and challenge you and keep you open minded opens all kinds of doors. These different foods, flavors, textures, colors, tastes, looks, fragrances, methods of cooking, and recipes are what lead to creativity, diversity, and the beauty that surrounds us. It leads to hope and possibilities and is one of the most precious treasures we have in our lives. Hold on tight to it, but don’t cling because change and differences are what make our world so magnificent.
